This Mega City article is naff!! NAFF! →
Disappointing article really… worth a quick look for reference I guess. The article extrapolates some extreme predictions of cities and their urban development. I am always wary once items become ranked and filed. What defines each region and populous within. Are these large urban cities sustainable?  equitable? … and is density the answer. Perhaps I’m being generalist but...

Oscar Tusquets Blanca coerced by the infinite
Oscar Tusquets Blanca reports on the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona Spain initiated by Antoni Gaudi. Once a critic, Blanca writes with some sentiment of how the longstanding structure has wooed him in favour of the church since consecration in March 2010. These images are only a smidgen of the beauty the architectural work beholds, idealised over a century ago this self funded development continues...

Had to reblog this… just had to… blah-city: THE SPERM BIKE - In the streets of Copenhagen you find the worlds first sperm bike! The bike is the transport from the spermbank to the fertility clinics. It´s simply easier and faster to get around in Copenhagen on a bike than in a car.

Inclusive urban medium speaks for half the globe →
A Swiss developed website forum which allows members to upload mini documentaries on urban projects sharing knowledge, issues and accomplishments in urban developments. This is a wonderful interface with project documentaries organised in movable cloud clusters, alphabetically or by geographic location. Created by Rainer Hehl and Jörg Stollmann in 2009, this website is an important and relevant...

Thanks to Jodes for highlighting a fantastic and longstanding initiative. The full immersion of architecture students with Rural Studio into a hands on approach to design and construction reveals certain realisms about building (ie. constructability) and seems to procure everlasting bonds of comradery within the stduent groups. Projects are welfare oriented, are affordable and green...

Turns out we have quasi public places...  →
As it happens the current Occupy movement reveals we have quasi public places. The movement across several cities worldwide challenge the dimensions of what makes a public space, who owns it… if anybody, and what happens… if anything, and for how long? This last question is what is the difficult one to answer. Will this develop into a new public place? The challenge ensues…

Ruskins purpureus flight o'er Europe
Syria and Greece, Italy and Spain, laid like pieces of a golden pavement into the sea-blue, chased, as we stoop nearer to them, with bossy beaten work of mountain chains, and glowing softly with terraced gardens, and flowers heavy with frankincense, mixed among masses of laurel, and orange, and plumy palm, that abate with their grey-green shadows the burning of the marble rocks, and of the...

Dekochari Bikes | Japan →
Image of Dekochari (decorated charinko) easy riders from Japan taken by Tokyo Photojournalist Tony Mcnicol. Taking ‘pimp my ride’ to another level, these guys lead the way in making the most of the very least. To quote Tony: “These guys are standing by their “dekochari” bikes. Dekochari are the pushbike version of dekotora (decorated trucks) you see every now and...
